William M. Smith

William M. Smith was born on April 14, 1839 in Lewis County, Virginia (now West Virginia). He enlisted as a Private on March 25, 1863 in Company H of the 8th Regiment West Virginia Volunteer Infantry, which was later reformed into Company H, 7th Regiment West Virginia Volunteer Cavalry. He was mustered out of service on August 5, 1865 at Wheeling, West Virginia. William M. Smith died April 9, 1928 at Bridgeport, West Virginia.
