John S. Blankenbaker John S. Blankenbaker was a resident of Illiopolis, Illinois when he enlisted on August 13, 1862. He was Mustered on August 21, 1862 as a Private into Company A, 73rd Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry. He was Mustered Out on June 12, 1865 at Nashville, Tennessee. After the war, he initially joined the Vilas, Kansas Grand Army of the Republic Atlanta Post #270 (1883 – 1886) and later the Buffalo, Kansas Grand Army of the Republic Buffalo Post #287 (1886 to at least 1899).
