Johns Always Young

Johns Always Young was born on July 30, 1840 Saltsburg, Pennsylvania. On September 10, 1861, at the age of 21, he enlisted as a Sergeant in Company A, 63rd Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry. On October 9, 1861, he and his regiment were mustered into federal service. On June 3, 1863, he was promoted to Regimental Sergeant Major and on July 1, 1863, he was promoted 1st Lieutenant and Regimental Adjutant, and transferred from Company A to Regimental Field and Staff.. He and his regiment were mustered out of federal service on August 6, 1864. He died on March 30, 1909 in Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California and is buried in the Los Angeles National Cemetery (Section 15, Row K, Grave 11).
