Benjamin Jones
Benjamin Jones Benjamin Jones was enrolled as Corporal in Company A, 47th Indiana Volunteers on September 25, 1861 at Anderson, Indiana. He was promoted to Sergeant on October 30, 1862. He served in all the campaigns and battles of the 47th including New Madrid, Vicksburg, the Red River Campaign, and Mobile. He was mustered out at Baton Rouge, Louisianna on October 23, 1865. Following the Civil War, he was a successful farmer in Van Wert County, Ohio. He married Mary Dailey on December 24, 1865. They had 13 children. He died on January 27, 1903.
