Dwight L Moody Award
Dwight Lyman Moody’s (Feb. 5, 1837 – Dec. 22, 1899) ministry for soldiers began with the troops at Chicago’s Camp Douglas. As the ministry grew for soldiers on both sides, he traveled throughout country including battlefields. As an evangelist, his desire was that Christ’s message be heard, denominations did not matter him.
Traveling in the United Kingdom and Ireland he held many revival services. A favorite quote was, “Faith makes all things possible … Love makes all things easy”.
He established schools for girls, boys, women, men and training for missionaries. Probably the most famous places he founded are the Chicago Bible Institute, now the Moody Bible Institute, a fully accredited Christian college. He also established Moody Publishers, a nonprofit Christian publishing house, still in operation.
Marrying Emma C. Revell on August 28, 1862, they had sons Paul Dwight Moody, William Revell Moody and daughter Emma Reynolds Moody.
