While cleaning out his mother's house, William Deem came across a photograph of his Great Grandfather, William P. Campbell, wearing his GAR uniform. On his chest was some rather large and impressive looking medals. The medal in the photograph was located is in perfect condition and very impressive, still in it's original presentation case. It is from the GAR and reads on the back side of the star; Presented to P.D.C. William P. Campbell by the Department of Kansas G.A.R. 1895. William P. Campbell served as Sgt-Major of the 6th Kentucky Cavalry during the Civil War. Photographs are from William P. Campbell's great grandson, William Deem.
