Photos from the PastCaptain William D. Neal Captain William D. Neal served with the 50th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. At the battle of Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia, he had stopped to salute General Leggett and Lt. Stewart when a rebel sharpshooter's bullet struck him in the back, passed through him and killed Lt. Stewart's horse. The Shelby County, Ohio Grand Army of the Republic Post was named after him.
