Porter J. Schermerhorn

Porter J. Schermerhorn enlisted on August 6, 1862 at Stuyvesant, New York and mustered in on August 25, 1862 as a 1st Sergeant into Company G, New York 128th Volunteer Infantry. On September 1, 1863, he was commissioned 1st Lieutenant and Quartermaster into the Corps De Afrique (19th Infantry) U.S. Colored Troops - later changed to the 90th Regiment.
