Ira Gray Munn Ira Gray Munn was born in Stowe, Vermont. He enlisted and was mustered on November 16, 1861 into Company H, 12th Regiment United States Infantry. He was transferred to Company G on February 1, 1863. At the battle of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, he was slightly wounded with a minnie ball in the right forearm, and at the Battle of Weldon Railroad, Virginia with a piece of shell in the head. He was taken prisoner but soon escaped. He was in 12 battles with his regiment. After having served 3 years, he was discharged November 15, 1864; receiving a $100 bounty. After the war, he became a member of the Grand Army of the Republic. Information and photograph submitted by Ira Gray Munn’s great, great, great granddaughter, Teresa Munn.
