Byron C. Harvey

Byron C. Harvey enlisted in the 1st Connecticut Light Battery on the Guilford, Connecticut Green on September 19, 1864. He was under the age of 17 when he enlisted. He mustered out on June 11, 1865. His brother, Abdiel D. Harvey, served three years in the 10th Connecticut Infantry and was wounded at Kinston, North Carolina on December 14, 1862 and honorably discharged December 14, 1862. After the war, Byron Harvey joined the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) and eventually became the Commander of the Edwin J. Merriam Grand Army of the Republic Post #8 in Meriden, Connecticut.
