Gustavus F. Walker

Gustavus F. Walker enlisted from Hodgdon, Maine at age 19 on July 14, 1862 as a Musician in Company H. 20th Maine Volunteer Infantry and was discharged at Washington, DC June 4, 1865 at the rank of Private. His military record indicates he was involved in the Battle of Gettysburg in defense of Little Round Top, having received a wound to the knee during the battle. He died in Boston on June 2, 1915. A June 2, 1915 obituary from the Boston Globe states He was surgeon of John A. Andrews Post, G.A.R., 28 years and was medical director for the Massachusetts Department of the Grand Army.
