C. Leroy Stoudt

1943/1944

C. Leroy Stoudt was initiated January 22, 1922 into General George G. Meade Camp #16, Reading, Pennsylvania. He served as Camp Commander of the George G. Meade Camp #16 and later as Department Commander. He enlisted in the Sons of Veterans Reserve (SVR) on January 22, 1922 and retired from the SVR 1952 after 30 years. He had attained the rank of Colonel, Commander of the Pennsylvania Brigade, SVR

He served as Memorial Day Parade Marshall in Reading for 32 years and was the originator of the annual Appomatox Banquet beginning in 1932. During his live time, he attended 60 Department Encampments and 52 National Encampments. He served as National Chief of Staff for 22 years, and Chair of the National Encampment Site Committee for 14 years. He was elected Commander-in-Chief in 1943 at the 62nd National Encampment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He died May 3, 1989 at the age of 86 years, and a SUVCW Member for 67 years. His Life Member Number was #98.
