Personal
War Sketches, 1894. One book titled
"Personal War Sketches: Grand Army of the Republic." Presented to
the William P. Russel Post No. 89 Middlebury, Department of Vermont by John
W. Stewart 1894. A stack of blank forms sent to GAR members is in a folder
with this book. These forms were sent out and returned, and the information
provided was hand written into this book. 36 members returned information.
Military information and personal information, such as who their friends were
during their time in service, are listed. One example is Thomas Wells. His
entry states his regiment was at Ford's Theatre when President Lincoln was
assassinated. The entries also contain some genealogy information, such as
birthplace and date, and where they enlisted. |
