of the
SONS OF UNION VETERANS OF THE CIVIL WAR
Regarding the
Use of Sons of Veterans Charters
(November
2002)
Charters issued by the old Sons of Veterans organization and issued prior to the congressional charter the Order currently is operating under, are still valid. Any Camp and/or a Department, possessing and conducting operations under such charter, have, always, and will continue to operate under the full authority of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War.
Charter’s of previous Camps and/or Departments, no longer in existence, may not be “re-activated”. Those seeking to re-activate an old Camp or an old Department must obtain a new charter. Any such old charter may be retained by the new Camp and/or Department for historical purposes.
