Lt. William McChesney

William McChesney was born in Cranbury, New Jersey in 1834 and died in Orange, New Jersey in 1905. He enlisted with the 2nd D.C. Infantry, Company B as a Private in January 1862. He rose to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant by the time he was mustered out in June 1865. The photograph was taken some time post-war and shows him in his Grand Army of the Republic uniform.
