Richard I. Cramer

This well known image is incorrectly identified as Emory Eugene Kingin - who actually served with the 21st Michigan Infantry. In the November/December 1994 issue of the magazine, Military Images, Michael J. McAfee, curator of the West Point Military Academy Museum explains this soldier's name was in fact, Richard I. Cramer of Compnay I, 4th Michigan Infantry. November/December 1994 issue of Military Images is the all Michigan issue, Wolverines: A Photographic Study of Men from the Great Lakes State in the War of the Rebellion, compiled by Dale R. Niesen.

Picture c/o Library of Congress, Online Collection American Memory which incorrectly identies this as picture of Private of Company F, 4th Michigan Infantry.
