Davis Steele

Davis Steele was born in 1842 in Greene County, Ohio. On April 19, 1861, he enlisted as a private in Company D of the 12th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was mustered into the regiment on May 4, 1861. The regiment existed for only three months and was mustered out of service on August 23, 1961. He later enlisted as a private in Company A of the 1st Nevada Infantry Battalion. The battalion was organized and mustered into service at Fort Churchill, Nevada on December 23, 1863. It was mustered out of service on December 24, 1865. Davis Steele died in San Jose, California on March 15, 1899.
