Lewis De Kraker

Lewis De Kraker served with the First Michigan Engineers Company F. He was from Holland, Michigan, Ottawa County and signed up by Captain James W. Sligh at Grand Rapids, Michigan on October 18, 1861. He served for the duration of the War. This photo was scanned from a book entitle The Historical Record-First Regiment Michigan Engineers and Mechanics 1861 Civil War 1865 by Charles R. Sligh. The photo also appeared many years ago in the Holland Sentinel as well when my Great Grandfather died in 1924. He lived to be 85 years old and is buried in the Pilgrim Home Cemetary in Holland, Michigan. Photograph submitted by great Granddaughter, Peggy (De Kraker) Stempfly.
