Dr. Charles Campbell Guard

Dr. Charles Campbell Guard was a Surgeon in the 29th Illinois Volunteers and served during the Battle of Shiloh. Dr. Guard was born in Equality, Illinois on August 8, 1824, the son of Chalon Guard and Sarah Campbell. He married Lucy Ann White in Gallatin County, Illinois on October 19, 1846. He married Lucy A. Posey in Gallatin County, Illinois on May 5, 1851. He married Nancy Baker in Gallatin County, Illinois on September 13, 1857. He died of Hepatitis aboard the Hospital Steamer "City of Memphis" on April 2, 1862.
