Charles B. Bland

Charles B. Bland was born in Canterbury, New Hampshire on February 8, 1849. When he enlisted October 21, 1864, he indicated that he was a laborer from Canterbury, New Hampshire. Some records indicate that he was 19-years old; however, he was actually 15 years, 8 months, 13 days old at the time of his enlistment. He enlisted as a Private and was mustered into Company C of the 22nd Regiment Massachusetts Voluneer Infantry on May 13, 1864. On October 21, 1864, he was transferred to Company L of the 32nd Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. He was mustered out on June 29, 1865. On September 22, 1865, he re-enlisted in Company C of the 24th Regiment United States Infantry and later served in Company B of the 15th Regiment United States Infantry. He was discharged on September 22, 1868 in Jackson, Mississippi. Photograph and information submitted by Charles Bland's Great Grandson, Jodie L. Bland.
