Confederate Flag Captured by
Corporal Walter L. Mundell

Walter L. Mundell enlisted in the 3rd Michigan Volunteer Infantry in 1861. Before War's end, he had served in both the 3rd and 5th Michigan Volunteer Infantries, had been wounded twice, captured a Confederate Battle Flag at the Battle of Saylor's Creek (April 6, 1865) and awarded the Medal of Honor.
