James Alexander Grier James Alexander Grier (A.M, D.D., L.L.D) was born May 8, 1846. He served in Company C, 33rd Illinois from August 22, 1861 to December 1865. He graduated from Monmouth College in 1872.
In 1874, he was ordained pastor of Charles Cross Roads Church. In 1883, became the pastor of Second Church, Mercer. In 1886, he became Professor of Systematic Theology in Allegheny Seminary and rem,ained as such until his health caused him to resign. In 1909, he was elected Professor Emeritus of Systematic Theology.
