George Washington Brown

George Washington Brown enlisted in 1864 into D Battery, 1st Maryland Light Artillery. In 1864, the 1st Maryland served in the defense of Baltimore, Maryland. Several months later, it was relocated to Washington DC at Arlington Heights where it again served as a defensive deterrent. The 1st Maryland Artillery was mustered out of service in 1865. Photographs are from George Washington Brown's great grandson, William H. Brown, and great great grandsons, Jim and Darrin Brown.
