George Asa Gilbert

George Asa Gilbert enlisted on January 3, 1864 at Chattanooga, Tennessee as a Corporal and was mustered on January 12, 1864 into Company I, 4th Kentucky Volunteer Infantry. He was listed as a Prisoner of War on August 1, 1864 at Union City, Tennessee and was transferred to Anderson Prison. He was paroled on March 10, 1865. He mustered out on June 24, 1865 at Camp Chase, Ohio. After the war, it is believed that he was a member of the Croxton #9 Post of the Grand Army of the Republic at Fearis, Lewis County, Kentucky. He is buried at East Fork Cemetery, Lewis County, Kentucky. Photograph and information submitted by George Asa Gilbert’s great great grandnephew, Joseph H. Gilbert.
