Edwin F. Morrill

Edwin F. Morrill was born October 6, 1846 (the son of Gregory Townsend Morrill who was was subsequently killed in 1864 during the seige of Petersbur, Virginia). Edwin was a 18-year old clerk from South Danvers, Massachusetts when he enlisted for six months on July 1, 1862 as a Private in Company B (Captain E.H. Staten's Company), 7th Regiment Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. He was mustered out of this regiment on December 31, 1862 at Fort Warren, Boston Harbor, Massachusetts. On September 16, 1863, he enlisted as a Private into Company F, 3rd Massachusetts Heavy Artillery. He mustered out of service on September 18, 1865 at Washington, DC. Following the war, he joined and subsequently became Commander of the James A. Perkins Post #156 of the Grand Army of the Republic in Everett, Massachusetts. He died on January 9, 1931.
