Daniel S. Pratt

Daniel S. Pratt was born on October 3, 1833 in Milford, Otsego County, New York. He was the youngest of 9 children (4 Boys and 5 Girls) belonging to Elihu Pratt and Polly Wright.

Daniel married Editha Ann Tubbs on July 4, 1855 in Maryland, New York. They had 2 daughters, Estella May and Lyle.

At 32 years old, Daniel enlisted on August 30, 1864 at Norwich, New York, and was mustered in as a Private in the 1st New York Engineers. He was transferred into Company G of the 1st New York Engineers and was promoted to a Full Artificier on January 1, 1865. He was Mustered out on July 3, 1865 at Hilton Head, South Carolina.

After his service, Daniel became a farmer in Maryland, New York and leased some 105 acres of land. He was a Grand Army of the Republic Member Of the Brown Post No. 15 of Schenevus, New York.

On the evening of October 10, 1916, Daniel fell in his home and broke a rib, pneumonia developed, and Daniel died on October 16, 1916 at the age of 83.

Daniel was buried in the Pratt Lot in the McKown Cemetery (Maryland Cemetery) in Maryland, New York.
