Charles Truman Van Tassel

Charles Truman Van Tassel enlisted April 1861 in the Company C, 9th Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry Seneca Falls, New York. This unit was mustered and trained in Elmira, New York. It was renamed in December of 1861 as the 3rd New York Light Artillery. He was discharged from Company I in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1865. He was listed as a member of the Clyde Grand Army of the Republic Post in New York in 1881 in The Military History of Wayne County NY found on the website entitled: Making of America. His recorded enlistment is found in the Adjutant General's New York Roster under Civil War: New York 19th Infantry and 3rd Light Artillery on the www.ancestry.com website.
