Cass A. Philips

Cass A. Philips was 23 years old when he enlisted as a Private on March 2, 1864 into Battery L, 1st Regiment Ohio Light Artillery. He was mustered out of federal service on March 2, 1864 in Columbus, Ohio. He also had service as a 1st Lieutenant in the Ohio Home Guard based out of Socito County, Ohio. Following the war, he joined the Grand Army of the Republic, based on his federal eligible service in the 1st Ohio Light Artillery. Photograph and information submitted by Cass A.
