Carlton A. Woodcock

Carlton A. Woodcock was born in 1840. He enlisted on August 12, 1862 and was mustered on September 22, 1862 as a Private into Company F, 2nd Regiment Vermont Volunteer Infantry, which was part of the 2nd Brigade 2nd Division (Getty) of the 6th Corp. One record lists him as wounded on September 19, 1864 at the Battle of Winchester (Opequon), while another record lists him as being wounded on September 21, 1864 at Fisher's Hill. He was discharged for disability June 2, 1865.

Carlton A. Woodcock participated in the following battles: Fredericksburg, December 13, 1862; Marye's Heights, May 3, 1863; Salem Church, May 4, 1863; Fredericksburg, June 5, 1863; Gettysburg, July 3, 1863; Funkstown, July 10, 1863; Rappahannock Station, November 7, 1863; Wilderness, May 5-10, 1864; Spotsylvania, May 10-18, 1864; Cold Harbor, June 1-12, 1864; Petersburg, June 18, 1864; Charlestown, August 21, 1864; Opequon (Gilbert's Ford), September 13, 1864; Winchester (Opequon), September 19, 1864; and Fisher's Hill, September 21, 1864. Carlton Woodcock was married to Miss Elsie Young. He was a member of the William E. Martin Grand Army of the Republic Post #79 in Plainfield, Vermont. He died in 1895 at the age of 56 and is buried in the Dwinell Cemetery in Marshfield Washington County, Vermont.
