Aaron Wesco

Aaron Wesco was born in Butler County, Ohio October 16, 1849. From September 6, 1863 to September 19, 1864, he served in the US Navy aboard the U.S. Receiving ships Grampus and Clara Dalton, and aboard the gunboat Peosta No. 36 - the flagship of Tennessee Division of the Mississippi Squadron (Lt. Smith commander). He served on the Peosta as a first loader and second boarder of a No.1 24 pound brass Dahlgren gun. On March 24, 1864, he was severly wounded when Rebel General Forrest attempted to capture Fort Anderson, Paducah,. Kentucky. He was discharged September 19, 1864. After the War, he was a lawyer; a secretary of the Soldiers, Sailors, and Pioneers Permanent Monument Committee, and a member of the Wetzel Compton Grand Army of the Republic Post #96 of Hamilton, Ohio.
