With deep sorrow we announce the death of George H. Taylor, a former Commander of Alexander Hamilton Post No. 182 and Commander of the New York Department, Grand Army of the Repubic, in the year 1930-31. Mr. Taylor left his home at Westport, Conn. when he was sixteen to enlist in the 106th Illinois. The passing away of Past Commander Taylor was the result of an accident February 8th, when he suffered a fracture of the hip, as he slipped on the sidwalk on leaving his office in room 5, City Hall, New York, which he occupied as Secretary and Treasurer of the Memorial Committee of the County GAR Association. After he was removed to the hospital, pneumonia developed to which he succumbed at a late hour February 20, 1934. Source: 1934 NY Dept. Journal, Woman's Relief Corps, Aux. to the GAR |
