Past Department Commander Joseph Bauer died October 12, 1938 at age 93. He enlisted in Rochester in 1861 and served until 1865 . He served as a Private in Co. K, 8th N.Y. Cavalry and later transferred to the 5th Independent Battery, New York Light Artillery. He served as officer of the day at several National Encampments. Source: NY Dept.
