Adopted on June 5, 2010 by the 127th Encampment of the Department of New York held at Newark, New York

Almost one hundred and fifty years ago our Nation began a struggle for its very life. Our country called and over two and a half million men responded, four hundred and fifty thousand of them from New York. Since 1881 we, the members of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War,  have been dedicated to preserving the memory of their sacrifice. We have made it a solemn duty to celebrate and promote the coming Sesquicentennial over the next four years starting in 2011. But our mission did not begin there nor will it end there. We are committed to preserving the memory of the "Boys Who Wore the Blue" for all time to come and for all generations to come. Anything short of that will dishonor us all.
