Commandery-in-Chief Annual Awards and Recipients
The Commandery-in-Chief annually recognizes Commanderies and Companions with awards acknowledging their achievement in a varity of areas including memberhship recruitment and contributions to the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States. The purpose of this page is to provide a description of the awards and to maintain a list of the award recipients.
The ULYSSES S. GRANT CUP is awarded annually at the National Congress to the Commandery with the largest percentage increase in new hereditary membership for the period October 1st to September 30th. In order to ensure consistency in the manner in which the award is made each year, the following document presents the methodology needed to calculate the percentage change in the Commandery's hereditary membership using the National Membership Database. The cup was a gift from U.S. Grant III, Commander-in-Chief from 1957 to 1961.
The Commandery recipients of the annual award are: The LINCOLN MEMBERSHIP MEDAL OF HONOR is awarded annually at the National Congress for the enlistment (referral) of at least three new hereditary members during the period October 1 through September 30 each year. Any Companion who secures three new hereditary Companions will receive a Lincoln Membership Medal of Honor and a Lincoln MOLLUS Certificate of Appreciation from the Commander-in-Chief.
The Companions of the annual award are: The DAUGHERTY-THOMPSON CUP is awarded annually at the National Congress to the Commandery with the largest number of new Hereditary Companions for the period October 1st to September 30th. The Commandery recipients are:

The RUTHERFORD B. HAYES CUP is awarded annually at the National Congress for conspicuously outstanding achievement over a period of time that has advanced the mission of, and reflects great honor on, the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (The Rutherford B. Hayes Cup is a higher award than the Meritorious Service Medal and both awards are available for work on the Commandery level as well as the national level - though an award of the Hayes Cup would typically involve some leadership at the national level). The Companion recipients are:

The MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL is awarded annually at the National Congress for significant achievements or accomplishments by a Companion in an area of interest to the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, usually (though not necessarily) in his role as a member. The Companion recipients are:
