Commandery-in-Chief Annual Awards and Recipients


The Commandery-in-Chief annually recognizes Commanderies and Companions with awards acknowledging their achievement in a varity of areas including memberhship recruitment and contributions to the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States. The purpose of this page is to provide a description of the awards and to maintain a list of the award recipients.

U.S. GRANT CUP AWARD

LINCOLN MEMBERSHIP MEDAL OF HONOR

DAUGHERTY-THOMPSON CUP

RUTHERFORD B. HAYES CUP

    The RUTHERFORD B. HAYES CUP is awarded annually at the National Congress for conspicuously outstanding achievement over a period of time that has advanced the mission of, and reflects great honor on, the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States (The Rutherford B. Hayes Cup is a higher award than the Meritorious Service Medal and both awards are available for work on the Commandery level as well as the national level - though an award of the Hayes Cup would typically involve some leadership at the national level). The Companion recipients are:

    2010 Rev. Dr. Robert Girard Carroon (CT), 2011 Peter A. Dixon (DC).

MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL

    The MERITORIOUS SERVICE MEDAL is awarded annually at the National Congress for significant achievements or accomplishments by a Companion in an area of interest to the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, usually (though not necessarily) in his role as a member. The Companion recipients are:

    2010 Dr. David R. Curfman (Posthumously) (DC), Bayard Roosevelt Lincoln (MA), and Dr. Weldon Edwin Petz (MI), 2011 None.
