During 2009, two contests were co-sponsored by the Michigan Commandery in commemoration of President Abraham Lincoln 200th Birthday Anniversary:

State-wide Abraham Lincoln Essay Contest

The State of Michigan Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Committee in partnership with the Michigan Commandery of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States held a statewide student writing contest commemorating Abraham Lincoln’s 200th birthday. There were three essay contest levels: Level 1: Grades 5-6, Level 2: Grades 7-8, and Level 3: Grades 9-12.
