Commander in Chief Job Description

Purpose

The purpose of the office of Commander-in-Chief is to serve as the chief executive officer of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW), to provide direction to the National Organization's operations, and to promote the goals and objects of the SUVCW.

Regulations, Chapter III, Article VII, Section 1:

The Commander-in-Chief shall be the chief executive officer of the Order, and shall
decide all questions of law and order subject to an appeal to the National Encampment, preside at
all meetings of the National Organization, shall sign all Camp and Department Charters, and
perform such other duties as may be prescribed by the Constitution and Regulations of the Order
and by the action of the National Encampment. He shall appoint the Commanding Officer,
Sons of Veterans Reserve after receiving the recommendation of the National Military Affairs
Committee.
